How Does Your School Compare? Digital Landscapes in Australian Schools

More than half of Australian schools are choosing to blend print and digital learning, rather than going fully online, according to new research from Campion Education.

The Digital Landscapes in Australian Schools 2025 report found that 53.9% of schools prefer a dual approach, intentionally combining digital tools with traditional print resources. Educators highlighted the value of print in reducing distractions and improving comprehension—making it a deliberate part of their teaching strategy.

While digital is growing, schools are taking a measured path. The research also reveals a rapid rise in AI adoption, with 78.2% of secondary schools now using AI-powered education tools. An additional 20.6% plan to introduce or expand their use of AI over the next year.

Campion Education CEO Tom Bradley said the findings underscore that digital transformation in schools requires careful, balanced consideration. “Schools are strategically integrating digital technology alongside traditional teaching tools. This blended approach takes the benefits of digital tools but recognises their drawbacks. Schools value having multiple options available to support diverse learning styles.”

The report also shows that challenges remain—particularly around data privacy, tool usability, funding, and staff training. More than 70% of respondents said strong data management and privacy are essential when selecting digital partners.
